Information
The tour begins with a visit to the Neapolis Archaeological Park, home to the most iconic monuments of Greek and Roman Syracuse. This site is the heart of the ancient Greek city, characterized by expansive green spaces and a pathway that traces the ancient Roman road, leading to the area's most significant archaeological treasures. Among these are the Greek Theatre, still in use for classical performances, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomia del Paradiso with the impressive Ear of Dionysius, the evocative Grotta dei Cordari, the Altar of Hieron, and the Church of San Nicolò ai Cordari.
Next, you'll explore Ortigia, the vibrant soul of Syracuse. Here, surrounded by Greek temples and Christian churches, Swabian, Aragonese, and Baroque palaces, hidden courtyards, Arabic-flavored alleys, artisan shops, humble homes, and charming squares, you’ll discover the stunning Fountain of Arethusa and the baroque Piazza Duomo, framed by elegant noble palaces.
After lunch (not included), the tour continues with a visit to Noto, a masterpiece of Sicilian Baroque recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Noto is an open-air museum where you’ll delight in strolling along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, admiring the numerous palaces and churches that have earned the city the nickname “stone garden.”
