TOUR PADOVA & VICENZA
CULTURE/ENTERTAINMENT
Information
Departure for Padua after breakfast. Visit to the lovely city of PADUA, Padua is also known as the city of the 'Saint without a name', of the 'lawn without grass' and of the 'café without doors': because here the Basilica of St. Anthony which for 800 years has attracted faithful from the whole world is only called 'the Saint', Prato della Valle (the largest square in Europe after Red Square in Moscow) has just a little grass and because once the gallery of the ancient Caffè Pedrocchi had no doors. Vicenza is a sort of stage where life marries art every day. Palladio became the greatest architect of all time thanks to his evocative climate: everything here speaks of him, from the basilica in Piazza dei Signori, taken away from the Middle Ages so that it could become something unique, to the famous Teatro Olimpico, where the place is already the most exciting of scenic representations, passing through the dozens of villas that revisit the very concept of living in space. Then there is the more spiritual Vicenza, which looks down from Monte Berico and holds a treasure such as 'The Supper of St. Gregory the Great' by Paolo Veronese.
